Make it two straight NCAA Division I Field Hockey championships for Hershey graduate Maddie Zimmer and the Northwestern Wildcats.
Just 14 seconds in double overtime Sunday, Zimmer set up Ilse Tromp’s game-winning goal off the Wildcats’ 10 th corner of the game, giving Northwestern a 2-1 victory over Princeton in the finale at Duke University.
Zimmer, who starred at Hershey and returned to Northwestern (22-1) after leading Team USA to a ninth-place finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
“Ilse Tromp is honestly my personal superhero,” said Zimmer, who gathered the insert from forward and former Episcopal Academy stat Ashley Sessa.
