ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
A fire at an empty 10-story building brought firefighters to 300 San Mateo Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. Sunday after smoke was seen coming from the upper floors, an Albuquerque Fire Rescue news release said.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, with damage mostly contained in an elevator shaft in the basement. No civilians or firefighters were injured, and the cause of the fires hasn't been determined.
This was not the first fire at the building, which has been abandoned for years. It has a long history, including housing offices for Microsoft in the mid-1970s and various governmental agencies in the following years.
