To celebrate the 260th anniversary of a patriotic stand Frederick County took against British rule, about 100 people gathered Sunday at Frederick's City Hall, some dressed in traditional, pre-revolution garb.
The British Parliament passed the Stamp Act in 1765. It put a tax on nearly all paper documents like newspapers, licenses and playing cards. The tax was an attempt for Britain to financially recover from fighting the Seven Years War.
