The Titans long ago this season gave up any realistic chance of earning a playoff berth or posting a winning record.
That means much of the focus on this team has centered on incremental improvements, especially as it relates to rookie quarterback Cam Ward.
Such was the case again Sunday when the Titans — playing at home — entered Nissan Stadium as nearly a two-touchdown underdog to the Seattle Seahawks.
Sure enough, the Titans never really threatened to beat Seattle, even if they did make things interesting on a couple of occasions in the second half of a 30-24 loss.
But for those looking to the future with a hopeful eye, Ward did provide some encouragement by producing what may well have been the best all-round game of his rookie season.
