Playing in the school's first-ever state championship girls soccer game, the Cherokee Chiefs played to a 100-minute, 1-1 draw against Livingston before falling in the best-of-5 penalty kick round by a 3-1 margin. The Chiefs saw their season end with an 18-6-1 record.
"I can't put into words how proud I am of everybody," Chiefs senior Paige Wagner said. "We all left it on the field. I mean, it's such a shame to have to end this way, but I think that these girls can make like, a comeback.
"We have so much talent we have so much heart. It was just so unfortunate. It, honestly, will feed us for the years, for the years in the future."
