LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - When you go to Prien Lake Mall during the holidays, you may notice extra security.

The extra assistance is being provided by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“The whole idea behind this is that our community has confidence that they can come out and shop no matter what time of the night it is,” said Sheriff Stitch Guillory.

As the holidays get closer, more people will be going out to shop for items and gifts for family and friends. In an effort to prevent crime, the Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office “Robbery Prevention Mobilization” unit will be located in the mall parking lot.
