OMAHA, Neb. —
DECA is a way for students to practice business skills, like communication and leadership, by organizing hands-on projects.
Two Millard West High School students have a passion for cheerleading, and that passion fueled their DECA project.
Morgan Bezousek and Lily Groves know that cheerleading mats make a major difference during practice and competitions.
They help keep cheerleaders safe as they perform stunts, but they can be expensive: A set can cost around $8,000.
Bezousek says many high school cheer teams in our state can't afford mats.
"I went through all of the teams that competed at State, and I went through all their Instagram pages to see if they had mats or if they didn't have mats and kind of wrote it down. And there was a lot," said Bezousek.
