On Monday at 1:38 a.m. a winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Wednesday 7 p.m. until Friday 7 p.m. for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Erie counties.

The weather service says, "Heavy lake effect snow possible. Total snow accumulations greater than 7 inches possible in the most persistent lake snows. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, producing blowing and drifting snow and possible whiteout conditions."

"Whiteout conditions are possible and may make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the busy Thanksgiving holiday travel period. Gusty winds could down tree branches and cause isolated power outages," says the weather service.
