A record amount of torrential rain caused severe flash floods in southern Thailand over the weekend.
Officials said nearly 2 million people are affected.
Video from Thai broadcaster TPBS showed flooded streets in the southern city of Hat Yai, with residents wading through waist-high water or leaving on boats.
Thailand's Irrigation Department said the average rainfall in 10 southern provinces last week was recorded at 300 to 500 millimeters.
Officials reported that Friday's rainfall in Hat Yai, a major economic hub in Songkhla province, was the highest in 300 years, reaching 335 millimeters.
Local media reported difficulties with evacuation efforts in Hat Yai, as hundreds of residents and tourists were trapped inside homes and hotels by rising water.
Officials warned on Monday that water levels are likely to rise further in several southern provinces, as torrential rains in the region are expected to continue until Tuesday.
No casualties have been reported.
