A man tried to rape a female jogger who was on an early morning run, a court has heard. Neighbours reported hearing 'screams' after the victim was knocked to the ground by her attacker.

Michael Wanless has been found guilty of trying to rape a young woman. Neighbours ran from their homes after hearing her screams and chased down the attacker until he was collared by police officers.

Wanless, 41, denied his actions but was found guilty following a trial at Teesside Crown Court, TeesideLive reports.
