INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The man accused of fatally shooting a Florida sheriff's deputy has died.
Michael Halberstam, 37, died from his injuries at 3:41 p.m. Nov. 22, according to Indian River County sheriff's officials. He had been hospitalized at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce since the Nov. 21 shooting that killed Sgt. Terri Sweeting-Mashkow, who was promoted from deputy to sergeant posthumously.
Here's what we know as of Nov. 22:

- Mashkow and other law enforcement officials went to a home to serve an eviction at 8:42 a.m. Nov. 21 when Michael Halberstam, 37, started “indiscriminately” shooting. Read more: Who is Michael Halberstam?
- It occurred at a house on Governors Way in the Bermuda Club gated community on the barrier island of Orchid.
- Halberstam’s mother, who was evicting her son, was outside the home at the time.
- The shooting injured Deputy Tino Arizpe and an unidentified locksmith, but Sgt. Gary Farless wasn't injured. Arizpe improved to stable condition, but the locksmith remained in critical condition.
- Mashkow’s death is the second line of duty death in about 100 years of the agency.
- Her body was escorted by a multitude of law enforcement vehicles to the medical examiner's office in Fort Pierce on the night of Nov. 21.
