For all the success of Pittsford's girls swim program, between the seemingly endless string of league and section titles and individual dominance, the lack of a recent New York state title weighed on the minds of the Rochester-area's top team.

The drought was five years. Not since Megan Deuel's record-setting performance in 2019, had Pittsford (or any Section V individual or team) climbed the top of the podium.
