Divers clearing waters in a conservation zone have discovered a suspected spying device off a Welsh island. Used for tracking submarines beneath the waves, the sonobuoy was hauled from the water by wetsuit-clad divers Tim Smith-Gosling and Stephen Hardcastle during their seabed litter pick at Skomer Island in Pembrokeshire .
Sonobuoys are acoustic monitoring devices routinely used by many navies during exercises and operations. It is understood that it is not unusual for such items to be found on the seabed around the UK, given decades of naval activity by UK and allied forces in these waters.
Mr Smith-Gosling, and Mr Hardcastle are from Neptune's Army of Rubbish Cleaners, a charity entirely run by volun
