“We are a species in absolute crisis,” the naturalist turned climate activist Chris Packham told Cathy Newman on the last day of COP30 in Brazil.
The global climate summit culminated in a disappointing compromise, with the final negotiations failing to include any pledges to reduce the use of fossil fuels.
“The oil rich states said they won’t be told to transition away from fossil fuels,” said Mr Packham.
The agreement came after two weeks of contentious negotiations in the Amazon city of Belem, with the US notably absent, after Trump decided to leave the Paris Agreement.
