President Donald Trump took to social media early Monday to gush over Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders following his team’s decisive victory Sunday over the Las Vegas Raiders — and with an unusual focus on the rookie quarterback’s genetics.

“Shedeur Sanders was GREAT,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “Wins first game, career start, as a pro (for Cleveland). Great Genes. I TOLD YOU SO!”

Trump has frequently commented on NFL games. He’s lashed out at a new kickoff rule intended to improve safety for players but slammed by the president as a form of “sissy football” designed by “radical leftists.” He’s also criticized specific plays, as recently as early Monday morning when he torched the New York Giants for not kicking a field goal.

Sanders was tapped by the Cleveland Browns earlier this year, and in Sunday’s game, threw for 209 yards with one touchdown, and completed 11 of his 20 passes. His performance was

by fans online, among them being the president of the United States.
