The Hayli Gubbi volcano in Ethiopia has erupted for the first time in recorded history.
The long-dormant mountain in the Afar region began to send ash sky high on Sunday.
According to Afar TV, the eruption caused moderate tremors in areas around Erta Ale and Afdera town.
The volcano is located about nine miles (15 kilometres) southeast of the active Erta Ale volcano.
