GREENWOOD, Ind. — A 17-year-old is in the hospital after they led police on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash early Monday that started in Greenwood.

Around 2:45 a.m., a Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputy tried to stop a vehicle for speeding around State Road 135 and County Line Road .

During the attempted stop, the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle fled at speeds "well above the posted speed limit," while traveling north into Indianapolis.

The JCSO says the teen turned off the vehicle's headlights and committed several other traffic violations during the chase.

The pursuit ended when the teen driver crashed into a garage in the 6800 block of South Meridian Street in Indy. According to the JCSO, the 17-year-old was taken into custody without incident and a semi-automatic pis
