The Marshall County District Attorney’s Office will review findings after a child sex predator operation turned deadly on Sunday.

Jack Andrew Smiley, 27, of Muncie, Ind., was shot and killed after he attempted to flee law enforcement and presented a weapon.

Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Guntersville Police Department were conducting a joint child sex predator operation on Warrenton Shores Road when the incident occurred.

Smiley was pronounced dead on the scene. Two officers were also injured and were treated on the scene.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency was called in to investigate.
