A Navy veteran who suffered from dementia and went missing in October was found dead during a search in Preston over the weekend.
The search on Saturday covered a two-mile radius in a wooded area around the Preston home of 72-year-old Henry Hood, according to the group Exploring with a Mission . The group organized the search along with Hood’s family after he had been reported missing on Oct. 24.
Connecticut State Police said Hood was found dead in the area of Linda Court. His cause of death was not immediately clear.
According to Exploring with a Mission, Hood’s family said the Navy veteran was diagnosed with dementia about two years ago.
The death remains under investigation.
