NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man died following an overnight altercation Saturday at a rooming house, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III.
At approximately 11:32 p.m. on Nov. 22, New Bedford Police were dispatched to 162 Sawyer Street for a reported altercation between neighbors.
According to the district attorney, officers arrived to find 56-year-old Curtis Pina, an occupant of the residence, on the third-floor landing with a severe head injury.
Pina was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities say that an ongoing investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and New Bedford Police led to the arrest of 38-year-old Arirto Santiago of 162 Sawyer Street, who has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous w
