The New York Giants have fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, according to a person with knowledge of the decision.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Monday because the move had not been announced.

The move made by interim coach Mike Kafka came after the team lost its sixth consecutive game to drop to 2-10 this season. It was yet another fourth-quarter blown lead in a season full of them, with Detroit racking up 494 yards and winning 34-27 in overtime.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Giants are naming outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen as their interim defensive coordinator.
