A clipper system is expected to move through Michigan and parts of the Northeast this week, according to a report from the National Weather Service (NWS), bringing a burst of snow and gusty winds to areas of Michigan.

"This clipper system is expected to bring an extended stretch of snow beginning near the Canadian border of Montana (Nov. 24) into tonight, then across the northern Plains on Tuesday, (Nov. 25), and then into the upper Great Lakes Tuesday night into Wednesday morning," a report from NWS reads.

The main window where heavy snow and strong winds could overlap is Wednesday, Nov. 26, across parts of northern Michigan.

In addition to such things as snow squalls and lake effect snow, clipper systems are common during Michigan winters.
