The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating the death of a man in police custody.
Officers were called to a home on the 3900 block of 30th Avenue S.E. on Sunday afternoon to assist EMS crews who were conducting a mental health call, the Calgary Police Service said in a release.
Police said the man in his 40s was behaving erratically.
“While officers attempted to take him into custody, the man became combative and assaulted one of the officers,” release said.
Officers used stun guns, but the man continued to resist and then went into medical distress, police said.

He was taken to hospital where he later died.
No officers were injured in the incident.
