CLINTON TWP, MI - A teen was injured Sunday after an escalating fight resulted in gunshots during a tree-lighting ceremony at a Detroit-area mall.
Police were called around 7:13 p.m. on Nov. 23 for a report of a shooting near MJR Theatre at Partridge Creek Mall, 17420 Hall Road, in Clinton Township, according to a release from the township’s police department.
The teen, 17, was shot after a verbal altercation escalated, police said. They were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The teen’s gender was not released.
Callers also reported an active threat in other areas of the mall, but those were false, police said. The incident was contained outside the MJR Theatre and was unrelated to an ongoing tree-lighting ceremony at the mall.
