COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery Sunday at a Dollar General involving a man wearing a mask.

Deputies responded at approximately 9:24 p.m. Sunday to the Sniders Highway Dollar General, where the robbery had been reported.

Witnesses told deputies a man wearing black clothing, brown work boots and a white cloth mask entered the front of the store and ran toward the manager’s office. The man was armed with a handgun and forced two employees at gunpoint to put money into his backpack, Lt. Laura Rutland said.

The robber stole approximately $2,600 before running away from the store, deputies said.

Deputies say a search of the surrounding area revealed footprints that led to fresh tire tracks on Team Bishop Lane.
