ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A man was arrested after a high speed chase through two counties ended in a Walgreens parking lot on Highway 321 on Saturday, Nov. 22, according to Alexander County's Sheriff's Office.

25-year-old Jose Louis Ramirez-Berreto was allegedly speeding through Alexander County when Alexander County deputies attempted to pull him over. When he didn't, deputies continued to pursue him through rural areas of Alexander County into Caldwell County.

During the pursuit, deputies said they witnessed the driver throw a "white powdery substance" out of the window. Deputies deployed stop sticks, which puncture wheels of a car when driven over. Ramirez-Berreto pulled over in a Walgreens parking lot.
