NEWTON COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Sheriff deputies from Newton County made 45 arrests and seized more than $73,000 after a multi-agency investigation into a dogfighting ring.
According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, around 9:50 p.m. Saturday, deputies serving a search warrant broke up an active dog‑fighting operation off FM 1004 in the Call community.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, most people at the scene fled into nearby woods but were later detained.
The NCSO says a drone using heat‑sensing technology helped officers spot lookouts around the property.
