A woman in northeast Bradley County was arrested Sunday after the Bradley County Sheriff's Office says she shot and killed a dog confined at her home.

Deputies were dispatched to the home after receiving a report that a dog had been shot.

The witnesses told deputies that Crystal Palmer took a .22-caliber gun and shot the dog, which was confined, several times.

The dog then fled into the home, where deputies followed a trail of blood and found the animal dead.

Evidence collected at the scene included blood inside a kennel where the dog was kept, blood leading into the home, and multiple spent .22-caliber casings.

Palmer was later found. A search warrant was obtained and executed, and the dog's body was recovered to be examined at the Medical Examiner’s Office.
