A senior House Republican is sounding the alarm that Marjorie Taylor Greene’s sudden decision to leave Congress is only the first crack in what could become a much larger fracture inside the House GOP.

Greene, 51, announced Friday night that she will step down in forty two days. Her announcement doubled as a sweeping indictment of President Donald Trump’s second term and the party that is supposed to support him. She argued that Trump’s priorities are being ignored, that House Republicans are growing complacent, and that the party is wasting its razor thin majority.

None of her complaints are new. Greene has never reflected the broader conference. She has fought with leadership, clashed with Trump, and spent years at odds with Speaker Mike Johnson. Talk is already circulating once again
