Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott wants more children in the city enrolled in pre-kindergarten programs.
On Monday, Scott announced that the city will be investing $500,000 to help boost those efforts.
“This announcement and the work to come is about investing in Baltimore’s greatest resource, our young people,” Scott said. “Together, we are committed to giving all of our young people the best possible start to their education and life.”
Scott said that 800 to 1,000 kids in the city enter kindergarten every year without any previous educational experience, making it less likely that they will graduate from high school.
