UPDATE: The judge overseeing the case of the murder on Market Street in 2023 denied the request for a retrial.
In April, a jury convicted Darryl Roberts of second degree murder in the shooting death of Christopher Wright, a Baylor alum.
In August, Roberts was sentenced to 60 years in prison for the second degree murder conviction and 30 years for the charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Security footage showed Roberts shooting Wright outside of Patten Towers.
Judge Boyd Patterson says Roberts has 30 days to appeal the decision.
