LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - With the holiday season officially underway, the Lansing Capital Region International Airport (LAN) is offering guidance to help travelers navigate what is expected to be one of the busiest Thanksgiving travel periods on record.
AAA projects that nearly 82 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more between Tuesday, Nov. 25 and Monday, Dec. 1.
That is an increase of 1.6 million travelers compared to last year and a new national record. In Michigan, nearly 2.6 million residents are expected to hit the road or take to the skies.
To help passengers move through the airport smoothly, LAN officials are encouraging travelers to plan ahead:
Arrive early: The airport recommends arriving at least 90 minutes before departure, especially during peak times.
