WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — A Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) deputy was hit by a suspected drunk driver Sunday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputy, who was on duty at the time, is now home recovering.

Officials are reminding drivers to move into the far lane when possible and to slow down by at least 20 mph when approaching emergency vehicles.

As the Thanksgiving weekend approaches, the WCSO also urges everyone to designate a sober driver or to use a rideshare service. Officials also remind people to act responsibly and to never drink and drive.
