CODY — Gloria Hedderman of Powell served two terms on the board of Wyoming PBS. Her daughter, Josie Hedderman of Cody, recently became director of the Dude Ranchers’ Association Foundation, headquartered in Cody.
One day, Joanna Kail, WY PBS CEO, was chatting with Hedderman, who mentioned the need to do something for the upcoming 100th anniversary of DRA.
Those connections resulted in the WY PBS production “Call of the West,” a documentary about dude ranching.
It was a natural fit to Kail, who noted that the industry began with Eatons’ Ranch.
The dude operation had started in North Dakota in 1897 and moved to Wolf, Wyoming, in 1904. The film will feature dude ranches in Wyoming, Arizona, Colorado and Montana.
