Triston Casas suffered a season-ending injury last season, leaving the Boston Red Sox to try many different players at first base to fill the void. Among the players the Red Sox deployed at first base was Nathaniel Lowe.
Lowe was designated for assignment and then non-tendered after the season ended, but the former Silver Slugger had a solid stint with the Red Sox. He was acquired by the Washington Nationals from the Texas Rangers before the season, but the Red added him after he was designated for assignment.
Lowe is once again a free agent, and with Triston Casas returning, the Red Sox do not need him. Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter predicted he would sign with the Colorado Rockies.
