Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and his wife Alice recently welcomed a new addition to their family.

"We are so grateful to share that our daughter — Elodie Jane Malik — was born this past Monday morning," Malik said in a Nov. 23 Facebook post. "Alice and I are so thankful for the team at Summa Akron City Hospital for their constant and compassionate care - both mom and baby are doing well. I am in awe of Alice’s strength and courage through some of the most beautiful and challenging moments of our lives."
