All hands were on deck to help three generations of one family trapped in a fire on Sunday morning, but unfortunately, one victim did not make it.
FDNY Deputy Chief George Healy said that about 20 units of firefighters and emergency personnel arrived within three minutes of a report of a fire at 113-23 202 St. in St. Albans, which was called in around 7:49 a.m.
“They encountered heavy fire in a detached dwelling,” said Healy, in audio provided by the FDNY.
The city Department of Buildings described the structure as a two-and-a-half-story single-family home.
“Units made entry on multiple levels of the building from both the interior and exterior via portable ladders,” said Healy. “Three victims were quickly located and removed from the building passed off to EMS.”
