A routine traffic stop led to a drug arrest and a large amount of confiscated drugs.
On November 21, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department stopped a vehicle for expired registration.
GJPD K9 Loki was deployed to conduct a sniff of the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. During a search, officers seized more than 49 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Jesse Austin, 44, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges that include distribution/manufacture/possession with intent to distribute — methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance, driving with a suspended license and expired license plates.
