Sheriff's offices in eastern North Carolina and the State Bureau of Investigation have teamed up to form a drug task force to target illegal narcotics in the region.
The task force allows Craven, Carteret and Pamlico counties to collaborate in investigations and use state-level resources to enforce laws against drug trafficking across county lines.
“The drug trade affects every community in eastern North Carolina," Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck said. "By combining our efforts and resources, we can take a more proactive and coordinated approach to identifying, investigating, and dismantling these operations.”
The SBI's Coastal District Office and Statewide Drug Program will support the task force.
