OLYMPIA — Colleen Melody, a Spokane native and graduate of Ferris High School, has been selected to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Washington Supreme Court, Gov. Bob Ferguson announced Monday.
“After an extensive and thorough process, I am confident that we have the right person for this very important job,” Ferguson said during an announcement in the Temple of Justice.
Melody, 43, will assume the seat of Justice Mary Yu, who will retire from the bench at year’s end. Melody serves as the division chief for the Wing Luke Civil Rights Division in the Office of the Attorney General, a department the governor established during his time as the state’s Attorney General.
