BOSTON —
A Boston mother and father were in court on Monday to face charges in connection with the death of their five-week-old baby girl.
Raynell Reed, 31, and Gerard Winn, 52, were both charged with manslaughter and held on $100,000 bail. They were indicted by a grand jury last week, according to Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden's office.
Reed gave birth to the girl at home in Dorchester on Dec. 5, 2024, according to Hayden's office. Winn was the child's father.
The girl was approximately two months premature, failed to gain weight and was malnourished. Prosecutors said that Reed and Winn never sought any medical care for the infant.
