THOMASVILLE, N.C. — A recount for the Thomasville mayoral race held Monday produced the same results as on Election Day, as incumbent Raleigh York Jr. was declared the winner after defeating challenger JacQuez Johnson by just 13 votes.
Johnson requested the recount after the Election Day counting showed him losing by a very narrow margin. But the recount showed those numbers were accurate.
York claimed 975 votes in Davidson County compared to Johnson's 963. He also received 23 votes in Randolph County compared to 18 for Johnson.
York was first elected Mayor of Thomasville in 2019.
