The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a warning to airlines on Friday, citing a “potentially hazardous situation” when flying over Venezuela due to a “worsening security situation and heightened military activity.”

The alert, known as a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), advises caution for flights in the country’s airspace.

The warning states: “Threats could pose a potential risk to aircraft at all altitudes including during overflight, the arrival and departure phases of flight, and/or airports and aircraft on the ground.”

The security concerns come as President Donald Trump deploys warships to the country’s coast along the Caribbean Sea to pressure President Nicolás Maduro over drug cartels, Newsweek reports.
