PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A family of four are displaced after a house fire that killed their dog in north Phoenix Monday morning.
At about 11:45 a.m., first responders were dispatched to a home near 7th Avenue and Behrend Drive , just south of the Loop 101 on reports of a house fire.
When fire crews arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from the front of the house and quickly pulled fire hoses into the house to fight the blaze and ensure all residents made it out safely.
While no residents were home at the time, firefighters found one injured dog inside. Crews tried their best to revive the dog, but it died. A few other dogs did manage to escape to other neighbors’ yards on their own, officials said.
