SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol invites residents to join a special tradition honoring law enforcement officers.

Patrol buildings across the state will display blue lights through January 2 as part of Project Blue Light. The initiative recognizes contributions of law enforcement personnel while remembering those killed in the line of duty.

Residents can show support by replacing normal light bulbs with blue ones. Troopers say public participation sends a meaningful message to those who serve and protect.

“That there is an honoring that they understand that the job that law enforcement does at every level is greatly important to our society,” said Sgt. Mike McClure of the Missouri Highway Patrol.
