CRESCO, Iowa – A Minnesota man accused of dozens of counts of burglary in North Iowa is pleading not guilty.

Christopher Wayne Swinger, 50 of Winona, MN, is charged with criminal mischief-1 st degree, 46 counts of third-degree burglary, attempted third-degree burglary, and trespass.

Law enforcement says Swinger went to Campsite RV in Cresco on October 19 and burglarized over 45 campers that were parked on site. According to court documents, when a Howard County sheriff’s deputy got to the scene, Swinger ran and hid in a nearby cornfield. A drone from the Cresco Fire Department eventually located Swinger lying in the corn and he was arrested.

Investigators say Swinger caused a total of over $10,000 in damage to the campers.

Swinger is now scheduled to stand trial beginning on March
