MANCHESTER, N.H. —

A new poll shows most Granite Staters are not happy with New Hampshire's two U.S. senators' handling of the government shutdown.

U.S. Sens. Maggie Hassan and Jeanne Shaheen were part of a group of Democrats who voted with Republicans in the Senate to bring the shutdown to an end.

The latest Saint Anselm College Survey Center poll asked registered voters whether they approved or disapproved of the way Shaheen and Hassan handled the recent federal government shutdown. The poll found that 40% approved, 53% disapproved, and 7% were unsure.

"Certainly there's a few more people, a few more voters who disapproved of what they did to end the shutdown," said Neil Levesque of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics. "That being said, it wasn't overwhelming."
