Greg Jordan, executive director of the Lyon County History Center, accepted the Kansas Museums Association (KMA) Distinguished Service Award to a standing ovation during KMA’s annual conference Friday.
Jordan, who has been a member of KMA for 30 years, did not know that he would receive the award “given to an individual whose achievements are worthy of special recognition” until his picture popped up on the big screen at the ceremony.
“I was completely gobsmacked,” said Jordan. “I'm still in shock. I've been in the Kansas Museums Association for 30 years. I go to most of the annual meetings. I've missed a few here and there, but for the most part, it's been a wonderful organization.”
Jordan has served on the KMA board, helped numerous museums connect with the organization, and mentored
