MANHATTAN, Kan. (KCTV) - K-State guard P.J. Haggerty has asserted himself early this season as one of the best players in college basketball.

On Monday, his outstanding play early this season was recognized, as the Big 12 named the Memphis transfer its Player of the Week. The honor came after he averaged 31.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists during games against Tulsa, Mississippi State and Nebraska.

In K-State’s 84-83 victory over Tulsa, Haggerty became the first K-State player since Michael Beasley to tally 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game.

Thursday night, he had a game-high 37 points as the Wildcats crushed Mississippi State, and a night later he scored 27 in a last-second loss to Nebraska.

With K-State 5-1 on the season, Haggerty has scored 20 points or more in all six games
