AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Workforce Solutions Panhandle is working to coordinate supportive resources after Tyson Foods in Amarillo announced upcoming mass layoffs.
The company announced Friday that all B-shift operations at its Amarillo location will cease “on or about” January 20, 2026, impacting about 1,700 workers.
Workforce Solutions Panhandle says it is already assessing how to assist those searching for a new job.
“We’re looking at connecting with Tyson, trying to get in the door and meet with their employees and understand who’s being laid off, what kind of skills they have, and then set up events that we can react to those that are interested in transitioning to other jobs.
